Thoughts on Everyone’s Projects
By: Maddie
Scott
Kat
Damian, Michael, and Ashley’s Blog:
-
We don’t see any “movement” in the movement
picture
-
The rhythm picture is creative and our group
really likes it because it does display rhythm.
-
Texture depicts the texture really well…. It
seems to pop off the page
Pasama’s Group
-
Movement picture looks good because the picture
displays movement without an object actually moving
-
The corner of the building shows great emphasis
-
The piano keys show great balance, very good
example
Olivia’s group
-
The plant building’s design shows great space
-
The example of harmony is a poor choice because
we don’t see the “harmony” in it at all
-
The shape is a great example because there are a
lot of shapes just in one picture
Anthony, Arielle, and Alix’s Group
-
We find the harmony picture boring
-
The sky scrapers make the “lines” really pop
-
Space picture was chosen well
Dan, Hannah, Sophie’s Group
-
Photos aren’t very original
-
Each photo is unique and has its own theme
-
Line is not very creative
Ricky, Taylor, and Group
-
The pictures’ quality is very good
-
Organization could be better (not a group of
pictures and then one huge caption, if they would have made it a picture and
its caption it would have been easier to go through)
-
The line picture is great!
Color Assignments
I love bright yellow because I feel like I relate to it. I think yellow represents the sun, brightness, and optimism, 3 things of which I feel like I am. I wear yellow all the time and I even painted my room yellow. I don't know how anyone can be sad looking at this color because its so happy and bright, which I love. I like this shade the best because its not washed out but also not so bright that it is hard to look at.

Pre Zombie Apocalypse (2-24)
When one first glances at the image, the audience is met with an overwhelming feeling. The many products and colors lead the viewers eyes on a search for a dominant item in the image. After looking at the image for several seconds, the viewer concludes that there is no dominant feature of the image and the chaos is what is meant to be captured.
The shoppers in the photograph are very distant and it is difficult to read any emotions because their faces are hidden. I would imagine that they feel a sense of routine and pattern if they have been to this place before. Before the photograph was taken, the shelves were emptied do to a high demand for the products. Then, employees restocked the shelves to their limit, expecting that high demand. The photograph was taken shortly after the products were restocked and the shelves were full. After this photograph was taken, consumers may have flocked in the store in order to gather the needed items.
I believe this photograph is conveying the amount of items Americans consume. The American mindset is that the more products to choose from is better.

5 observations and 5 questions about Tim Roda's website
Observations:
- Seems to be very busy because of the amount of exhibits he is featured in
- 2006, 2008, and 2010 seem to be his most celebrated years because those were the years he had the most press and publications
- Some of his work seems pretty abstract, like the picture in the Watermill series
- The New York Series are all in black and white
- A lot of his work has children in in
- Does he hire those children or are they his own?
- Is there a specific reason for choosing black and white in compared to color pictures in some of his work?
- His work is with people, does he do anything without them? Like landscapes or something like that?
- Where is his favorite location to photograph?
- Where does most of his inspiration come from? (For example there seems to be a Greek myth presence in some of his work, is that on purpose?)
Follow up from 1st Skype Sesh
I really enjoyed hearing from Tim. He was very open about the ideas and concepts of his art. He had a really funny side to him which made the skype even more enjoyable. I like how he was honest to us and didn't try to make himself sound like an expert.

5 observations and Questions for 2nd artist via Skype
Questions:
- Where do you make your work? Travel?
- What does the religious presence mean?
- Does Jason make all of his pieces or does put together already existing pieces?
- Where does the chinese influence come from?
- Did professor Horvath and the artist work together with the feet? It looks familiar in Mr. Horvath's work
- Religious influence
- Chinese culture influence
- The medium seems to only be ceramics
- The one piece is interesting. It has a dog face where Jesus's face should be
- The use of gold is really pretty
Follow Up
It was interesting to me that Jason was a "religious mutt", the religion presence is definitely present in his work. I thought it is interesting that he only uses one pair of praying hands as a symbol from someone else's art. The paws are cool and it is interesting to me that he uses them as a metaphor of "not getting close enough" to the hands. Jason is very personable and informative which made listening to him very fun and interesting.

Claire Sherwood Skype
Questions:
1. Where do you get most of your inspiration?
2. Do you travel and have exhibits worldwide?
3. What form of art is your favorite?
4. Where does your interest of "perfect" things come from?
5. Does she also bake?
Observations:
1. Most of her videos are simple concepts put to a bigger meaning
2. I like how the video captures her process of art
3. I don't see too much ceramics what she also specialized in
4. I like the colors she uses
5. Very technological advanced I feel
Follow Up:
I think that it would have been a better experience if the skype was a bit more clear of course but I really liked Claire. I like how she incorporates her whole life into each of her projects. I like how all of her projects have a little of her. I also like how her projects lead into one another, I think that that is very creative.
